About

Hello there! My name is Cecilia Salas, but I go by Ceci (pronounced CEE-CEE). I was born in Lima, Peru and I moved to Orem, Utah just before my fourth birthday. Orem is where I spent the entirety of my childhood and the majority of my life so far, right up until I moved to New York City in August of 2016. In May 2014, I graduated from Orem High School with an academic letter in both English and Family and Consumer Sciences. Some of my accomplishments in high school include: placing 2nd in Fashion Design at the 2012 FCCLA STAR Events and placing 3rd place at the 2013 Make It With Wool competition.  I attended Utah Valley University from 2014-'15 and later transferred to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City where I am currently in the 1-year AAS Fashion Design program. I consider myself a writer and an artist. Throughout the last two years, I have had my art displayed on MTV's webpage, Rookie Magazine, and Tavi Gevinson's instagram. Some of my favorite things include short skirts, spontaneous daytrips, red lipstick, journaling, concerts, and scented candles.

ABOUT THE BLOG

In June 2009, I started my first amateur blog, titled A Mess of  a Dreamer. I used that blog to post about my personal struggles and triumphs as well as my love of music. In May 2011, I decided to make an additional blog, called One Last Stitch. I created that blog as an attempt to divide my artistic work from my personal posts. There, I posted my original paintings, sewing projects, fashion reviews, as well as playlists and photo shoots. After a while, I decided to start an Etsy shop by the same name, One Last Stitch. I specialized in children's clothing and accessories as well as  ladies' headbands. My shop was closed in August 2012, upon the start of my senior year in high school.  Upon starting my freshman year at UVU, I realized that I had outgrown the One Last Stitch blog and that I no longer agreed with the original intent behind creating that blog - to separate my personal life from my creative life - and so I began dreaming of a blog in which I could share my artwork and creative projects as well as discuss aspects of my every day life. I wanted a space where we could talk about fashion, travel and food, among other things. So the seed was planted and Simply Ceci was made, as what I hope will become a sort of personal portfolio and a positive community.
